Review: Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks

Today I am going to be reviewing another cosmetic product, Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks. Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks are long wear liquid lipsticks that dry in a matte finish. I have not been asked by the company, nor sent any products for free to try (all products have been purchased by me of my own accord), to do any kind of review for them.

The colors that I personally own and use on a regular basis are:

Unicorn Blood- a dark, rust red/Androgyny- a sultry plum, mauve/Masochist- a dark berry pink/Watermelon Soda- a neon pink-red/Rich Blood-a blue red with shimmer, between Redrum and Unicorn Blood/Redrum- a true cool toned red/No Tea, No shade- a metallic purple-brown.

These lipsticks start off as a liquid but dry very quickly into a gorgeous matte finish that has incredible staying power. The color is opaque in one coat and won’t come off or smear from eating (not oily/greasy foods), drinking, or kissing (not making out). The range of colors is large and doesn’t leave you wishing for a tone that isn’t there. The price point for each lipstick $18 (U.S. dollars) plus tax and shipping.

My opinion of Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks is that they are quality lipsticks that worth every penny of the moderate-higher end pricing. I wear these lipsticks whenever I am going anywhere that I know that I won’t have the ability to retouch my lipstick often. I love that there are colors that work for all occasions and all skin tones. If you moisturize your lips with a good lip balm about 10 minutes applying the lipstick and wipe it all off before application then the lipstick won’t dry your lips out. The only complaint I have about these lipsticks is that they do wear off right in the middle part of the mouth where your lips sit touching each other when your mouth is closed.

My suggestion is that if you’re looking for a long wear, matte finish lipstick check out Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks.

Review: Chapstick Total Hydration

Good afternoon everyone! Today’s review is going to be very different from the last two as I am stepping away from “nerdy” reviews and am going to be reviewing a “cosmetic” product. I will be doing a review for Chapstick Total Hydration. Chapstick did not ask me to review their product, nor did they send me the product for free to try; this is simply my opinion of it to give some information for anyone that might be interested but unsure about buying.

Chapstick Total Hydration 3 in 1 lip care is a lip product meant to “moisturize, renew and transform lips”. I will vouch for this products ability to moisturize lips; it is a very smooth, very moisturizing formula with no stickiness what-so-ever. It moisturizes so well that I use it before I put on any long wear lipsticks so that my lips don’t dry out underneath.

When it comes to the renewing and transforming, I don’t really see those qualities from it but at the same time I don’t necessarily know what to look for and didn’t do any kind of before/after comparison of my lips. I will say that when I haven’t worn this product for a couple of days my lips do look and feel drier than normal and the lines in them are more pronounced.

I bought my Chapstick Total Hydration in the scent Sweet Peach. I absolutely love this scent, it is a very true peach scent but its not overpowering, doesn’t linger too much when on your lips, and is NOT a flavor only a scent. I got mineĀ at Target for $2.99 (US dollars) plus tax. I think the price is a good value for the size of the tube of chapstick as it is larger than a tube of regular of chapstick, close to if not the same size as Baby Lips by Maybelline (it also feels similar on the lips to me).

My opinion of Chapstick Total Hydration 3 in 1 lip care, in Sweet Peach, is that it is a quality product with a very pleasant scent that moisturizes better than some other lip products on the market right now. The price point is on the lower side so that it is easily available to most people and can be found in pharmacy’s, stores like Target and Wal-mart, and I’m sure other stores across the country. I feel, while it is a very good product to use before applying lipstick, that men could benefit from using this product as well if the softness of their lips is important to them. All in all Chapstick Total Hydration 3 in 1 lip care is a great lip care product, in my opinion, and if you are on the fence about trying it I think that you should.
